Johyun Gallery is thrilled to announce an exceptional video project featuring the work of Park Seo-Bo, set to premiere during both Frieze Seoul and Kiaf Seoul.

⠀

The solo exhibition by artist Park Seo-Bo, who has collaborated with Johyun Gallery for 14 individual exhibitions since 1991, is being held from August 31 to November 12 at Johyun Gallery in Busan. Park Seo-Bo, a master of monochrome painting and a leading figure in the contemporary Korean art, will unveil his latest works using pencil and digital techniques for the first time in South Korea through this exhibition. The digital works will not only be displayed in the gallery but are also planned to be broadcast on South Korea's largest curved LED billboard located on the exterior wall of the Seoul COEX SMTOWN building. This will be for about a month, including the period of Frieze and KIAF Art Fair, allowing the public to vividly experience the series in ultra-high resolution in the heart of the city.

The work created based on Park Seo-Bo's 2010 Lavender Ecriture technique has been developed to bring out his vivid colours and textured details in ultra-high resolution, adding motion to the art. Starting from very small points and expanding across the entire piece, the work allows viewers to perceive intricate details that are usually missed by the naked eye. Created by Park Seo-Bo's grandson and a video director, Park Ji-Fan, the artwork has significant meaning as it represents a shift for the artist who was comfortable with analog techniques. It serves as a breakthrough to confront the fears he felt facing digitalised generation, a sentiment that is reinterpreted through the digital screen by the next generation.
